Life Funk

I guess you could just say that I'm in a serious funk right now. I'm pretty sure that the blogging funk is a result of my life funk. I think I'm starting to figure out what's going on and maybe seeing some hope in how to break free. As you know, I'm a stay-at-home. I've been really struggling lately with keeping my house clean and not feeling darn-right-overwhelmed when I'm home. I think I've figured out that it's our dog that is putting me over the top. She's a great dog, don't get me wrong, I just feel like it's just too much right now. 1) she leave hair EVERYWHERE. I could sweep every day and sweep up an entire dust pan full of hair. When having a baby, it's just no fun. 2) she has a lot of energy and can't be trusted outside because she digs and barks terrible. So, she tries to get her energy out in the house, and when having a baby, that is no fun. 3) she randomly barks in the house and therefore wakes up the baby.

I think that all in all, she's a great dog and really just needs more attention and training that Kyle or I have to give her right now, unfortunately. She's 2 years old and is just still too much of a puppy. I really can't imagine that we'd do when we have a second child. So, right now, we're praying about finding her a new home. It's hard to think about saying good-bye to a family member, but for my sanity and the peace of my home I believe this might be the best option. I'll keep you posted on the final decision.

First of all, I feel your pain. I think every stay at home mom feels totally and completely overwhelmed and out of control at some points. It's not necessarily that you are doing anything "wrong", just that after awhile the little things build up and you start feeling like everything is wrong.

As for the house, you figure out a system or a plan that works for you. Frankly, I've never found one of those that always worked for me, so I just bounce around and try new things. I figured out that one system forever would bore me, but between trying all the new house cleaning tips and organizing suggestions, I stay on top of it better than if I was just doing one thing (er, mostly). So, don't over worry that you aren't perfect, no one is and neither is their house, no matter how it may seem.

And as for the dog, friend I feel your pain. I have a 150 lb. basically inside dog, and the guy sheds like nobodys business. I've resigned myself to sweeping pretty much every day after breakfast while the kids play in Tot's room. It works out okay because I get the breakfast mess up, too. Annoying? So much I can barely stand it.

Anyways, if you need to get your dog to another home to save your sanity, by all means DO IT. I can't tell you the times I wanted to do the same thing (Dave just wouldn't let me).

Okay, well, I just wanted to let you know that you aren't alone and that we all feel like this sometimes. You do what you need to do to get through it.

Oh, and you should visit www.t2chk.com (Titus 2 Christian Home Keepers), it's a great website for women that has a very active forum of everyone talking and trading tips and prayers and everything. It's a great little online community.

Hope all my rambling helps - LOL :)

I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling so overwhelmed! Could you hire a babysitter for a couple hours a week - they take kiddo out of the house (or you drop him off?) and then you clean like crazy? or sleep? or whatever you need most!

Or... maybe that wouldn't work at all. Either way - recognize that even those of us without a baby have a hard time keeping it all together (and keeping the house clean)! It is just part the struggle of life - keep it all in perspective. I'll be praying for you!

I always had a picture of being a SAHM and it was totally different than reality! I wouldn't trade it for the world, but there are days it is as demanding as a full time job and many days it is MORE demanding! Just keep plugging away. I am trying to find a system that works, but have not had luck yet!

I feel for you. I'm currently at home but I don't have any children. We have pets though, 1 being a 2 year old yorkie/shih tzu. I took him in because my mother couldn't care for him and both my aunt. He gets where he's too lazy to go to his pee pads (he thinks he's going to miss out on something), so he holds both pee and poop until he explodes where he SHOULDN'T. We have to tell him when to go, basically enclosing him in with his pad. We also have to make him eat otherwise he'll grab one kibble and run off, then come back to get another kibble, then run off, repeat 30 times.

Hang in there!
